Great Falls native having one stellar summer

Alex Gregory, a native of Great Falls, played in the 2008 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star Game on July 20. The NECBL home run leader was the South Division's starting designated hitter.

Gregory's long-term vision to become a big league ball player is his biggest motivator. Said Gregory, "I've been looking to play baseball at the next level. That's really what's helped me keep motivated and play harder and harder every single day."

His work has not only shown itself this summer; he has been a solid professional prospect ever since he enrolled at Radford University. Twice named to the All-Conference team, Gregory became only the second Big South player to hit above .400 in two consecutive seasons. As a sophomore, Gregory sported the sixth best batting average in the nation at .430; last season he hit .401. In addition to that absurd average, he led the Highlanders in every meaningful offensive category: home runs, RBIs, runs scored, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and walks.

In summers past, Gregory excelled in the prestigious Clark Griffith Collegiate Baseball League, where he, too, earned all-league honors.

With such a distinguished pedigree, it is no wonder, then, that he has emerged in the NECBL.

"It's always a great feeling to be selected [to the all-star game]... It's a great feeling knowing that all the hard work you've done has paid off."
